2024-25 Panini Select Premier League is now here. Like all 2024-25 Panini Premier League sets this will be the final release for the foreseeable future as Topps has the license starting next year. This year’s box format follows that same format of all the Select soccer card sets since they reintroduced them in 2022. If you aren’t familiar with the set I suggest reading the 2022-23 Panini Select Premier League review for some background on EPL Select products or the 2024-25 Panini Select La Liga review for more 2024-25 specifics. If you want more background on 2024-25 EPL products check out the Prizm EPL review as it will be more in depth than this one since most of the same stuff applies such as lack of rookies and high print runs. I am not trying to be lazy in this review but I have laid out the problems that Panini EPL products have many times before and they apply to 2024-25 Panini Select Premier League.
2024-25 Panini Select Premier League Breakdown

Soccer Cards HQ Review – Let’s start with the good part of 2024-25 Panini Select Premier League, the print run actually dropped a few hobby boxes from last year after staying steady in 2023-24. I guess Panini realized after the 2022-23 release that they print run of Select Premier League was just too high. Not that it isn’t still too high, but we take the small wins where we can get them these days.
As I mentioned in the introduction there is too much 2024-25 Panini Select Premier League printed based on the demand. EPL usually doesn’t have the rookies to get people excited and it doesn’t have many of the current hobby superstars. They don’t even have some of the decent rookies from EPL teams that show up in Topps 2024-25 RC checklists either because they missed them or in the case of Ethan Nwaneri they had his true rookie cards last year. Of course, in the end it doesn’t seem to matter when rookies are included these days, but that is a whole other problem in the soccer card hobby right now. Regardless the current hobby interest for the rookies in 2024-25 Panini Select Premier League are not going to really move the needle.
There are the same 4 case hits that have been in Select recently. Stained Glass is the case hit everyone chases. This year’s design seems to be split on like/dislike. If you like the Stained Glass design, you will probably like the new base Tessellation parallel. The Stained Glass (Search On Ebay) checklist is pretty interesting. Out of the 30 cards 10 are legends. 10 of the teams don’t have a player on the Stained Glass checklist. I believe Panini knew the release price was going to be too high and they thought they could mask it by stuffing the Stained Glass checklist with players that were more well known. The problem is the print run is around 100 and some of the biggest names like David Beckham and Thierry Henry have been used last year. You can get last year’s raw in the low $100 range so that’s not exactly a lot of value. Visionary (Search On Ebay) and Artistic Impressions (Search On Ebay) never fetch much value because they have an even higher print run at roughly 120. There are ~150 team badges and outside of the promoted teams the demand just isnt there. The simplest thing would’ve been using color parallels on these for the final year but alas we aren’t that lucky.
The Select patch auto checklist is usually decent even if the regular auto checklist isn’t. In 2024-25 Panini Select Premier League even the patch auto checklist is rough. I do give Panini credit for using some new names. There just isn’t enough current hobby names in the EPL to not use the best. Outside of the case hit auto I am not sure there are going to be many players that are going to get anyone outside of team collectors excited. The patch cards are usually non-associated napkins, so they get valued as non-associated napkins.
Panini is releasing boxes at $300 and that is just too much. 2024-25 Prizm EPL boxes are still sitting on Panini at $250 and are much less on eBay (Search On Ebay). Every other Prizm SKU is available on Panini as well. I don’t want either at that price but gun to head I would take the Prizm. 2023-24 Select EPL boxes are going for under $200 in auction and around $220 if you want to BIN (Search On Ebay). Granted those singles you are buying now likely won’t have the Stained Glass or case hit auto. 2024-25 Select La Liga boxes are already down to $270 from a $370 release price and those have Lamine Yamal. If you just have to open this year’s Select EPL wait a week or two. I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it many more times. I don’t know how Topps pulls off having 5 EPL hobby products next year plus all their other SKUs and probably print run increases.
