Soccer Cards HQ Review – This won’t be a super in-depth review since it overlaps so much with regular Chrome. With the popularity of 2026 Topps Chrome Premier League sets there may be some new collectors that aren’t familiar with Sapphire. The print run is right in line with recent Sapphire UCL sets. The general box makeup between 2026 Sapphire EPL and regular Chrome is the same in that you can expect an auto and the same amount of number cards. The difference is all your numbered cards in Sapphire will be numbered to /99 or less. You also have a much better chance to hit the more desirable lower numbered cards. For instance, the odds for you to hit a Red in Sapphire is 1 in ~10.5 boxes while in regular Chrome its 1 in ~42 hobby boxes for any red and 1 in ~85 to hit a true red.
The autograph list is expansive at 107 total subjects. There will be a lot of fluff, but the good news is majority of them will be numbered. There is also the bonus of there being on-card autos for Max Dowman (Search On Ebay), Rio Ngumoha (Search On Ebay), Estevao Willian (Search On Ebay), David Beckham (Search On Ebay), and Mohamed Salah (Search On Ebay) in “select low-numbered parallels”. Keep an eye on the highest numbered on card you see to see if the chances are better especially when it comes to Max Dowman since he only has autos in the set. The highest Dowman I have seen so far is Black /10, but I have seen a Rio Ngumoha Gold /50 auto. The best card in the set, at least for now, is this Max Dowman Red “London Is Red” Auto and is owned by @jeff.arsenal.card

The inserts are a mixed bag. The ones that come from regular Chrome probably won’t excite anyone as they haven’t been well received. Infinite (Search On Ebay) and Sapphire Selections (Search On Ebay) on the other hand are very collectible. Infinite are case hits and have a print run of ~40. The Infinite Superfractor are some of my favorite cards in the hobby. They look incredible and are the only Infinite parallel. The are also the only Superfractor in the set. The other 1/1s in the set are Padparadschas and if we are being honest Padparadscha can’t hold a candle to Superfractors. Sapphire Selections has Black, Red and Padparadschas and a base print run of ~65.

2026 Topps Chrome Sapphire Premier League was released via EQL for $430. Anecdotally from my DMs and social media it doesn’t look like many people got them via EQL and now the resale price is around $800. Topps also charged a very amount for allocation to breakers so they in turn have to make a profit. That isn’t a good thing for the ROI of the cards that are actually coming out of the boxes. That is roughly 3x what regular 2026 Topps Chrome EPL hobby boxes are going for now. I took a look at what 2023-24 Topps Sapphire UEFA boxes are selling for since the makeup is roughly the same. The highest numbered base cards in 2023-24 is /75. Those boxes go for around $1250 now. The 2023-24 UEFA boxes are clearly superior. Lamine Yamal rookies along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo cards in there assure that. Topps killed some value in Sapphire by not having Max Dowman base cards. With his limited cards so far, his rookies would’ve gone crazy in this. I am not opening either of those Sapphire boxes for what they are going for now but gun to head I would choose the UEFA all day even at it being 50% higher price. If you follow me you also know I don’t like Wookies and Estevao cards in Sapphire are about as Wookie as it gets and he is the big draw. The question then becomes would I rather open 3 regular EPL Chrome or 1 EPL Sapphire and again the answer is neither. I don’t get the love but at the same time I love that the UK hobby is growing and excited. Topps has definitely done an infinitely better job of that the Panini did with the EPL license. Now I just hope all the new people don’t get burned and stick around for the long run. If you are getting involved, I wish you the best of luck and hope you hit big.
