2024-25 Topps Reverence UEFA UCC is here after lots of anticipation and pre release build up by Topps and their breakers. It is billed as a “premium, high end soccer card release” that is “designed to deliver a luxurious collecting experience”. With such praise like that there is good reason why many collectors were excited for Reverence to come out. Now that we have seen it let’s see if Topps delivered on the hype.

Soccer Cards HQ Review – The first thing that jumps out about 2024-25 Topps Reverence UEFA UCC is that is has only sticker autos. There was much discussion prerelease about how much if any of the product was going to be on-card autos. You would think with a premium high-end set there would be on-card autos to chase. Once I started seeing more and more preview images with sticker autos I had a bad feeling that would not be the case. I waited to do the review until I saw lots of this opened just to be sure what to expect since it’s not a traditional type hobby product. The next thing you would expect in a premium high-end product set is match worn patches. There are some match worn relics in the set and the rest seem to be player worn. If I had to guess the break down or match to player worn is similar to what we see in Topps Museum.
The design reaction seems to be split amongst the hobby with some people loving it and some thinking the gaudy use of gold and crowns is terrible. There are definitely royal vibes to a lot of the cards with the crown and jewels use. It almost seems like they should have called this Royalty or something like that instead of Reverence. I just came up with that name Royalty completely on my own. Nope I have never heard it used anywhere else….. I think the biggest problem with the design, even if you like it, is that the parallels don’t really stick out that much. The parallel color used on the card is very minimal. We know that sets that have this issue struggle to achieve top dollar resale for lower number parallels because they lower numbered don’t look much different that the highest number. Think Museum or Panini Impeccable. Look at how those base cards perform on the secondary market when you are considered buying Reverence singles (Search On Ebay). Another problem seems like it could be that the autos seem to drowned into the gold background that Topps put them on. That is how it looks like in the pictures and videos I have seen so far. Maybe they look better in hand. Topps used a similar design that they use for Museum and Dynasty for the horizontal patch and patch auto cards. They did use bigger patches for the patch only vertical cards. Those look quite nice when compared to the much smaller patches used in Museum. There have already been some really cool patch cards (Search On Ebay) pulled in Reverence so far. I am sure the match worn nice patches will do well.
To really drive home that 2024-25 Topps Reverence UEFA UCC Topps pulled out the one touches for the autos and relics. It is similar to what they did in another notoriously premium product, 2023 Topps Pristine Road to Euro 2024. Topps has done similar with the Palatial teams sets that they have come out with this year. I guess they figure they don’t need to do on-card autos in a premium high-end product if they just put some cards in one touches. The crazy part is it seems to be working. The Topps marketing team deserves some big credit for getting people to pay a premium price for sticker autos just by putting them in one touches. I wonder if Museum debuted this year and they put some cards in one touches if people would like it more. For all practical purposes Reverence and Museum are the same product. Many soccer card collectors will like the Reverence design more especially if you like the white background and elements over the darker elements that Museum uses, but the basics are the same. Thick cards with sticker autos and some match worn and some player worn patches in a single box product. There is a lot more Museum made because the checklist is bigger. I did have someone tell me they heard there were only 400 cases of Reverence which was probably said by someone trying to justify their resale prices. Unfortunately, I do think it is short print enough where resellers will be able to keep the box price higher than it probably should be. The base checklist in Reverence is very good when it comes to name appeal. They did not need to use much filler since it was only a 50 player checklist. If Endrick gets hot again that would help Reverence as they seemed to make him the big rookie chase (Search On Ebay). There are lots of legend autos in Reverence which seems like a good thing as hitting a legend you know is better than hitting a current player you could care less about. The problem is they are obviously not playing day autos and Topps and Panini are making these poor guys sign so much the sticker autos of them just don’t fetch much value.
Topps released 2024-25 Topps Reverence UEFA UCC boxes for $600. If you were lucky enough to get one of those you will be able to sell the box for profit right now with early resale in the $1100-1500 range. Based on the boxes I have seen that is probably your best bet although at $600 you shouldn’t get too killed if you just love to rip. Even if you get one of the specialty boxes boxes that come 1 per case I am not sure it would guarantee you will get your money back compared to the resale price. Part of the reason resale is so high is that breakers are pricing boxes in the $1250-$2000 range. I saw one major company doing a random card $250 break and none of the cards in the box they broke will sell for $250. Again I give the Topps marketing machine tons of credit for making white Museum with an extra # card and auto and getting people to pay 5x as much. It is funny to me that there are Rookie Reverence cards in Topps Museum (Search On Ebay). I don’t understand why Topps decided to can Stadium Club, a product many people love, and keep Museum, a product many people don’t, when they knew they were coming out with Reverence. I would probably feel a little different if Reverence was a Museum replacement. I would completely understand that decision by Topps considering how Museum is respected by the soccer card community. Oh what I would give to be a fly on the Topps and Panini soccer offices wall. I am very interested to see how Reverence singles do in the secondary market. Will the hype carry over to singles? I honestly have no idea. If enough people are convinced this is a premium high-end release than they could do well. I wouldn’t be surprised if they became big chases or completely flopped. I just hope if you are getting involved you don’t get burned.
