2024-25 Panini Prizm Premier League is here for it’s last installment for the foreseeable future as Panini has lost the Premier League license to Topps starting next season. As I have said before Panini Prizm EPL seems like it should be a great product because it features one of it not the biggest brands in all of sports cards and it’s of the biggest soccer league in the world. Yet every year it is a product that garners little excitement after release. I would suggest checking out my 2023-24 Panini Prizm Premier League review as it will give more detail into the problems with the product. Let’s see what you can expect this year.

Soccer Cards HQ Review – If you have opened Panini Prizm Premier League the last couple years you already know what you are getting into this year. There are some differences but not enough to change the value proposition of the product. The hobby numbered parallels are up to 798 from 755 last year. The total of all numbered parallels across all SKUs is up to 1546 from 1348 last year and 826 in the first Prizm EPL back in 2019. There are now 97 cards numbered 10 or less up from 66 last year and 40 in 2019.
A lot of the disappointment with Prizm Premier League usually centers around the lack of rookies. Panini did themselves no favors last year by putting Ethan Nwaneri and even Oscar Bobb in later releases last year and not Prizm. That cost them RC shields in here. If you are a “1st Prizm” believer that could be a thing. Miles Lewis-Skelly, Mikey Moore and Archie Gray are a few of the rookies that will get hype. Problem is they are also in Topps products so they will have a ton of rookie cards. The Miles Lewis-Skelly Black Shimmer 1/1 has already sold on eBay for $5500. Don’t worry if you are a MLS or Arsenal collector, there are 4 other Black 1/1 versions. Can’t believe they have done away with Gold Powers. I imagine the ones from previous years (Search On Ebay) could get a bump now know that the entire print run of them through the years is pretty limited. On a side note I wish all the fanbase collectors were as passionate as Arsenal. We would be much better off in the hobby. As of now I would say they quality of rookies is in the range of last year. Of course that can change over time. When comparing Prizm Premier League to Topps UEFA products the % of the checklist that are rookie cards is so much lower. For this reason, Panini really leans into the Legends for EPL products.
None of the “big” rookies have autos which is another usual knock against Prizm Premier League. It’s a lot of the same players with sticker autos that you see over and over. Pep Guardiola (Search On Ebay) does make his way into the checklist this year. It’s not Topps getting Sir Alex Ferguson, but it’s something. They broke the two main auto checklists into Signatures and Penmanship this year. Panini did up the dual autos from 5 cards to 9 this year, although they are numbered to 10. Card #4 is missing for some reason. They added a few teams that don’t usually get duals so that will be cool for the collectors of those teams. The biggest dual is Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry which is cool, but we have seen it before. It will be interesting to see if they flood the product with Erling Haaland autos again this year like they did last year. There are dual and Club Legend autos again. Interestingly enough last year the duals were missing card number 4 of 9 and this year they are missing number 7 of 9. The dual checklist is pretty poor this year compared to last year while the Club Legends checklist is better. Prizm usually isn’t about the autos and that is lucky for them because the overall auto checklist is pretty weak.
You may be asking yourself if the rookies and autos aren’t great what should I be looking to hit? Besides true Gold Prizms and 1/1s the “case hits” will carry a lot of the weight. I put case hits in parenthesis because it appears out of the 3 “super rare” (as Panini calls them) hits only the Manga (Search On Ebay) are actually case hits. Most cases I have seen have at least 1 Manga and some even have more. I can’t find boxes of the other SKUs to know if Mangas will be in them, but they are on the sell sheet for the other SKUs. Just based on hobby alone the print run on Mangas is likely at least 150. If they start showing up in other SKUs it will be more. Before getting FOMO and rushing out to get a Manga I would look at how last year’s do. Color Blasts (Search On Ebay) are back to being horizontal after being vertical last year. As usual we don’t know how hard they are to hit, but they are definitely not in every case although I did see one case with 2. White Color Blasts usually have much less of a print run than the Black’s which usually come later in the year in Obsidian. Prizmania (Search On Ebay) is a new set this year. It essentially looks like a big head caricature on a card. It seems to be hard to hit and does well in other sports so I would imagine they should do alright in soccer. None of those case hits have color parallels. For Prizm Flashbacks (Search On Ebay) this year they use the 2014 design which is nice because it is full bleed and there are color parallels. It also shows what Panini thinks about their 2013 design considering they used 2012 last year and 2014 this year. Assuming Sublime (Search On Ebay) is super short print again this year I am sure those will do well.

2023-24 hobby boxes are currently selling around $175 so I am not shocked to see 2024-25 Panini Prizm Premier League still sitting on Panini for $250. the fact that hobby boxes are selling on eBay for less than $250 out the gate shows where the demand currently stands. The biggest thing this product has going for it is the lack of soccer card releases lately. Unlike previous years where there was more of a gap after, this year Topps Chrome UEFA is only a couple weeks away. There hasn’t been much buzz for this year’s release either. If there was any hope Panini would send us out with a bang, it didn’t happen. Good luck if you are getting involved but the prudent move is probably to go the singles route or wait for box prices to come down.
